Why You Should Become a Member
If you’re a health professional in Virginia, you’re probably aware of the Virginia Health Care Association. The nonprofit organization works on behalf of rural Virginia’s 2.5 million residents to improve health care and foster cooperative partnerships. This article explains why you should become a member. Board of Directors
The Virginia Health Care Association (VHCA) is an association of healthcare organizations in the Commonwealth. Its governing body is a 17-member Board of Directors, elected annually by the general membership. The WVHCA CEO oversees the organization’s day-to-day operations. Its members represent a diverse group of health care organizations. Here are the people who serve on the Board of Directors:
Jim Kaufman serves on the board of the West Virginia Hospital Association. He has previously served as vice president of public policy at the Children’s Hospital Association and as director of government affairs for Johns Hopkins Institutions. Jim has over 25 years of experience in health policy advocacy and has worked with both state and federal government agencies. He has also worked for the Maryland Higher Education Commission and the General Assembly. His background in health care policy makes him a highly qualified candidate for the WVHA Board.
The Virginia Health Care Foundation was named in honor of Mr. Hughes in 2004. He has also served as President of the Virginia Health Care Association’s Foundation. He has also served as a member of the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Health Reform Commission, a group created by Governor Kaine to address the issue of healthcare access. In addition to his work in health care, Bill served as Vice President of the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association. He has also served as a member of the Executive Advisory Council of the University of Richmond Robins School of Business.
Annual Convention
The Virginia Health Care Association (VHHA) has announced its priorities for the 2019 Annual Convention, which will be held April 10-12 at the Williamsburg Lodge in Richmond.
